A car accident can occur in the blink of an eye. Each year thousands of Louisiana residents are injured in car accidents, and hundreds more die in such collisions. The unfortunate reality is that these types of crashes are so prevalent that many people may not even raise an eyebrow at news reports about fatal accidents. A recent report detailed a fatal head-on collision that may catch the attention of Louisiana residents because, at least from the preliminary reports, there may not be any early indications about how the collision occurred in the first place.

According to the reports, the head-on collision occurred on May 9 in Webster Parish. Although the details in the initial reports were few and far between, it was confirmed that one person died in the collision. Three other people were injured, two of whom were transported by air to medical facilities for treatment, and one of which was transported by ambulance. The collision occurred on U.S. Highway 79 during the evening hours.

Although state troopers may still be investigating the cause of this recent head-on collision and probably won’t speculate as to the cause until the investigation is complete, these days there are several reasons why a head-on collision like this might occur. Distracted driving is always a prime suspect in these collisions, and the possibility of drunk driving being involved may not be ruled out immediately either.

When an individual is killed in an auto accident, determining the cause may be crucial to their efforts to attempt to recover financial compensation. Identifying the at-fault party is the first step in any personal injury case.
